RealProof Review Import Policy

The rules for importing reviews into RealProof. Only genuine reviews from real customers may be imported. Fake, paid or edited reviews are not allowed.

2026-10-30 · Last updated

Reviews only help shoppers when they are real. This policy applies to every review you bring into RealProof through CSV import or any other import. It is published by ShopifyGuro ("we", "us"), the maker of RealProof. By ticking the confirmation box before an import, you agree to this policy on behalf of your store.

This policy is a set of rules for using our software. It is not legal advice. Review rules differ by country, so check your own obligations.

1. What you may import

  • Reviews written by real customers who bought or used the product from your store.
  • Reviews that real customers left about your products on another review platform you used before, such as Judge.me.
  • Reviews you have the right to use. You may remove personal details, spam or abusive language, but you must not change what the customer meant.

2. What you must not import

  • Fabricated reviews. Reviews written by you, your staff, relatives, friends, an agency, an AI tool or anyone else who did not genuinely buy or use the product.
  • Paid or traded reviews. Reviews given in return for money, free products or other benefits, unless this is clearly disclosed with the review as the law requires.
  • Copied reviews. Reviews taken from competitors, marketplaces or other stores, or moved onto a different product.
  • Altered reviews. Changing the rating, text, name, photos or date so the review says something the customer did not.
  • Selective reviews. Importing only good reviews while holding back genuine negative ones to inflate your rating.
  • Duplicates. Importing the same review more than once to raise your review count.

3. Imported reviews are not verified

RealProof does not verify imported reviews. Do not describe them as "verified buyer" or "verified purchase" unless you have checked this yourself.

4. Your confirmation and responsibility

Before every import we ask you to confirm that the reviews are genuine and that you accept this policy. We record the store, the date and time, and the version of this policy you accepted.

You are solely responsible for the reviews you import and for following the laws and platform rules that apply to you. These include, depending on where you and your customers are:

  • the US Federal Trade Commission rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465);
  • the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024;
  • the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and its rules on consumer reviews;
  • Australian Consumer Law and similar laws elsewhere;
  • Shopify's and Google's merchant policies.

Keep the original export and any records that show where your reviews came from, for as long as the reviews are shown on your store.

5. Personal data

You must have a lawful basis to import reviewers' names, email addresses and photos. Reviewer emails are not shown publicly. If a reviewer asks you to remove their review or data, you must act on it.

6. What we may do

If we reasonably believe a review or an import breaks this policy, we may:

  • ask you for proof of where the reviews came from;
  • remove the affected reviews or the whole import;
  • restrict or suspend your use of RealProof;
  • share information with Shopify, Google or a regulator where we are required to or where the law allows.

7. Responsibility

RealProof provides software only. We do not check or endorse the reviews you import. You agree to cover us for claims, fines and costs that arise from reviews you imported in breach of this policy. Nothing in this policy limits any right or liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Reporting a problem

If you believe fake reviews are being shown through RealProof, or you want a review removed, contact us with the store address and the review. We take reports seriously and will look into them.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The version date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant we will ask you to confirm again at your next import.
